Come to the Cross and Remember

There are moments in the church year when we are invited to slow down.

To pause.

To listen.

To remember.

The 2026 Mille Lacs Area Lenten Cantata, “Come to the Cross and Remember,” invites our community into that sacred space.

For years, this cantata tradition has gathered singers, musicians, narrators, and volunteers from across the Mille Lacs area to reflect on Christ’s journey to the cross. What began in 2016 has grown into a meaningful ecumenical collaboration — a night where denominational lines fade and one message remains: the love of Christ for the world.

A cantata is more than a concert. It is a worship experience — a woven tapestry of choral music, soloists, narration, and Scripture that guides listeners through the story of redemption. This year’s theme centers us at the foot of the cross — not in despair, but in awe. Awe at sacrifice. Awe at mercy. Awe at love that does not hold back.

Participants in this year’s cantata represent congregations including:

  • Bethesda Lutheran Church

  • Faith Lutheran Church

  • Holden Lutheran Church

  • Isle Baptist Church

  • and other area churches and community members

This collaboration is a beautiful reminder that while our church buildings may differ, the cross unites us.

Hosted at Faith Lutheran Church, the evening will offer music that prepares our hearts for Easter morning. Through harmony and spoken word, we are drawn deeper into the story that defines our faith — Christ’s suffering, death, and victorious resurrection.

A freewill offering will support the Isle Area Food Shelf, extending the impact of this sacred night beyond the sanctuary and into the lives of neighbors in need.

Whether you have attended every year or are considering coming for the first time, you are welcome.

Come sit.

Come listen.

Come to the cross and remember.
